About 83 percent of the HIV patients get infected through drug injections, and the rest through sexual contacts."

Doctors try to persuade infected women to avoid or terminate pregnancy. However, only about half of such women agree to have an abortion. According to Mr. Glazovsky, about 40 people with HIV have died in Belarus since 1986."
