The following photographs of Belarusian artists (dramatic theater, opera, ballet, regional theater, film, etc.) appeared on a series of pocket calendars entitled, "Actresses of the Belarusian Theater," published in Belarus in 1998. Surprisingly, they were only available in one or two of the dozens of bookstores in Mensk, and I never saw them in bookstores in any other city in Belarus.

The calendars were published by Viidavetztva Batskaushchyna and are written in traditional Belarusian [taraskevitza], not in the Russified/Soviet version [narkomovka] imposed by the current regime in Belarus, which actually prefers Russian. Refer to Belarusian Language for more details of the Belarusian language crisis.
