  "The leaders of the Mensk-based Belarusian Ecological Party and the Party of Belarusian Greens based in Gomel have adopted a Platform for Uniting into One Party. The party will be called the Belarusian United Ecological Party of Greens (BEG)."

  "The BEG is to act in four main fields:

  • The restoration and dissemination of national knowledge for making thrifty use of natural resources
  • The elaboration and introduction of modern technologies capable of protecting the environment and creating comfortable living conditions for people
  • The implementation of a socio-economic policy aimed at improving people's health
  • A counteraction to the most dangerous instances of pollution and wasting of natural resources.

  "The BEG member parties have also come to an agreement about the principles of socio-economic policy: the predominance of human rights over the interests of governmental entities, and the priority of health care, education, and culture in the appropriation of state and local budgetary funds. According to Vasily Yakovenko, member of the Belarusian Ecological Party Council and president of the Belarusian Socio-Ecological Union, the parties have decided to unite because the uncoordinated efforts of environmentalists prevented them from becoming an influential force in society."

• Ecoinform Bulletin

  "We disseminate our bulletin via E-mail to a number of non-governmental organizations of Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, to schools and other educational institutions, and to several independent Belarusian newspapers and TV stations. The bulletin is free of charge of course."

  "We have issued one printed digest because most of the environmental NGOs in the region do not have access to E-mail facilities. The bulletin is prepared by the non-formal, non-governmental organization, 'Information Group School-2'. The main goal of our group is to assist the development of electronic communications in the sphere of NGOs."

• ECOLOGIA (ECOlogists Linked for Organizing Grassroots Initiatives and Action)
  "ECOLOGIA is an independent international environmental organization with headquarters in the United States and offices in Moscow, Russia; Mensk, Belarus; and Vilnius, Lithuania. ECOLOGIA was founded in 1989 in order to assist independent environmental organizations across the Former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe with technical assistance and information. ECOLOGIA now provides these services to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local government officials in Eurasia and the United States."

• International Academy of Ecology
  "The Belarusian Division of the International Academy of Ecology is a non-governmental organization and was officially founded in 1992 as a part of IAE by Belarusian scientists with a "sustainable" orientation. Now IAE has 68 members. A mission of the organization is the support of sustainable development of Belarus. The Belarusian Division of the International Academy of Ecology works on different ecological, anti-nuclear, and cultural projects.
