This section is a collection of information for those interested in learning more about Belarusian language and culture, especially in a formal or semi-formal educational environment. This collection of information is primarily of those resources where English is the initial language of instruction (though other links are collected as well).
The Language Unit of the School of Slavonic and East European Studies has, as from Michaelmas term 1999 (i.e., beginning late September), initiated a one-year evening course in elementary spoken and written Belarusian.
The course is aimed at providing coverage of basic grammar and essential vocabulary, as well as an ability to communicate within a limited range of situations. The course is taught in English and Belarusian, and covers the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Further information and application forms are obtainable from the School's Language Unit at:
