Held in Mensk. "Our conventions have their professional peculiarities. We do not just hold plenary sessions and discussions about music, but we show the audience works created by Belarusian composers in the previous 5 years," said Igor Luchenok, chairman of the Union of Composers, in an interview with a BelaPAN correspondent. The Union of Composers consists of 85 composers and 26 music experts. Young people graduating from the Belarusian Music Academy join its ranks every year."

"Despite serious financial difficulties, the Union of Composers organized 3 modern music festivals; two youth forums titled, 'The 21st Century, Music of Hope'; a Theatre and Music festival; and three contests for the best musical work."

"According to Mr. Luchenok, the convention will begin with a performance of compositions by Anatoly Bogatyrev and Tikhon Khrennikov at the Concert Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society Theatre. Musical theatres in Mensk will show operas, ballets, and musicals staged in the last few years. Symphonic, choral, chamber, and folk music will be performed at concert halls in Mensk."
