"The environmentalists will march along the Dnieper from the town of Shklov to Bykhov and make a long stop in Mogilyov. The march is scheduled to take place from July 4 to 16 [1999]. During the stop in Mogilyov, the campaigners will organize an environmental subbotnik (community works), a news conference, a rock festival, seminars, and discussions."
"Environmentalists from Belarus, Germany, and Russia will take part in the march. The campaigners invite everyone to join them. Those who want to join should have camping outfit, and pledge to eat vegetarian food, and not to use alcohol or drugs during the campaign."
"Ekosoprotivleniye was formed in August 1998, when environmentalists from Belarus, Germany, Poland, and Russia staged a campaign to protest the possible construction of a nuclear power plant in the Mogilyov or Vitebsk regions of Belarus. The group aimed to draw people into international environmental movements and campaigns. The group organized the campaign For Nuclear-Free Belarus, which included a rock festival and fax voting against the power plant construction. The group organized environmental protests and showed films in higher educational institutions and youth clubs."
