"Vladimir Konon, Ph.D., heads the Department of History and Theory of Culture at the Skaryna National Scientific Educational Center and studies the history of the country's aesthetic thought, Belarusian philosophy, culture, folklore, and literature. In 1994, he was awarded a state prize for his works on the history of Belarus' philosophy and public thought before the October 1917 revolution."
"The committee which awarded the medal included writers Vasil Bykov and Rygor Borodulin and other outstanding workers of culture."
"Anatol Gritskevich, who has a doctorate in history, said at the ceremony that 'the government has not been giving awards to many prominent people for the last 4 years, while public awards play a greater role in Belarus' life, as they do in the whole civilized world.' "
"Memorial medals and Spadchyna diplomas were also presented to Vadim Labkovich, Vadim Kabanchuk, and Aleksei Shidlovsky, members of the Malady Front youth organization; Yury Moroz and Boris Khamaida of the Vitebsk-based Vybar association; literary critic Yazep Yanushkevich; historian Ivan Saverchenko; journalist Ales Nikolaichenko; and student of local lore Ales Belokoz. The names of all the medal recipients were entered on a memorial book titled Rupliwtsy Tvaye, Belarus' (Your Devotees, Belarus)."
