"Historical name of Samuil Piatrouski-Sitnijanovich, Belarusian and Russian poet, playwright, pedagogue, and cultural worker. A graduate of the Kievan Mahilanski Collegium and possibly the Jesuit Academy in Vilnia, he took monastic vows and taught for a while at a confraternity school in Polacak. In 1664, he moved to Moscow, where he become the court poet, teacher of the tsar's children, organizer of a printing shop, an author and publisher of books of poetry and moral teachings, and a propagator of unity of East Slavic peoples."
